Eligibility, Requirements & Evaluation
Eligibility:
The Minoru Yasui Student Contest is open to students in the United States and territories attending public, private, parochial, or home school. Members of the Minoru Yasui Legacy Project and their families are not eligible to participate. Past first place winners of the contest are not eligible to participate in the division they won.
Junior Division
The Junior division of the contest is open to all students in Grades 5 through 8.
Senior Division
The Senior division of the contest is open to all students in Grades 9 through 12.
Requirements:

Submission deadline is Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 11:59 PM (PT).

Artists' statements must not exceed 300 words (whether written or audio)

Submissions must be a painting, drawing or mixed materials art piece

Submissions will be an image(s) of the completed artwork and must be flat image files (i.e. PDF, JPEG, PNG)

No copyrighted imagery allowed
Evaluation
The 2023 Minoru Yasui Student Contest will be evaluated on the artist's statement as well as the accompanying visual art piece. Excellent submissions will address all elements of the prompt in a clear statement that displays critical thinking connecting the artwork and the legacy of Minoru Yasui.
